This is a great well-rounded watch
. I bought this watch in 2011 and so far, it has proven to be a very nice watch. When I started looking for a luxury watch, I had a few things I found important to me:
1

. It is a chronometer
. If I wanted a super accurate watch, I would go with a quartz watch. But this watch's movement (engine) is certified by the COSC which basically says its average daily rate is -4/+6 seconds a day. There is a lot of debate about whether this is just marketing or what not, but for me, a watch needs to keep pretty darn good time. I can live with a -4 to +6 second range per day.

. Similar watches - I also looked at the Omega
3221.30. It also offers dual time, month, day of week in addition to the features of the 3211.30. The reason I decided against the 3221.30 was because of two reasons. One is that we are dealing with mechanical watches here. The more pieces and moving parts that are in the watch, the more likely it will be more expensive to maintain. Also I usually know what month I am in and what day it is. It is usually the date that escapes me. I also looked at Tag Heuer and Rolex. Tags are also nice watches, but I felt Omega had more heritage behind it and I felt the Tags were a lot heavier for a comparable model. Rolex watches are great, but they are a lot more expensive for comparable models (I want to say about 3 times) and I felt they were more like my grandpa's or dad's type of watch.
